Accountability and Anti-Corruption Practices
Accountability is a cornerstone of democracy and development. The Governance Research Centre recently concluded a national assessment on “Public Perception of Anti-Corruption Measures.” The study revealed that citizens’ trust in governance increases significantly when anti-corruption institutions are independent and transparent.
Our findings recommend periodic audits, whistleblower protections, and digital reporting systems to enhance transparency in public finance. We also identified the need for continuous civic education to encourage citizens to report corrupt practices without fear.
The publication serves as a guide for policymakers, civil society actors, and development partners who are working to strengthen anti-corruption frameworks in Sierra Leone and beyond.
